Speculations about Marvel’s Phase 3 are inherent, especially since there is little time until Thor: The Dark World is released into theatres. This would be the second movie in the Phase 2, after Iron Man3.
Kevin Feige, the producer of so many superhero movies, was asked about the clues leading to an Infinity Gauntlet storyline for 2019’s Avengers 3. The tesseract, Loki’s mind-controlling scepter and Malekith the Accursed from the upcoming Thor sequel are these clues.
The producer said that these assumptions are correct to some degree. However, it is only up to Josh Whedon whether he will use that storyline as a source of inspiration or not. After all, it was his choice to have Thanos smiling at the end of the first Avengers movie.
In Thor, the fans could catch a glimpse of the Infinity Gauntlet inside the vault of Asgard. It first appeared in the Marvel universe in the ‘90’s when Thanos used this device to destroy all the superheroes, until he was betrayed by Nebula. The Infinity Gauntlet is a glove with 6 gems, each of them controlling time, space, power, mind, reality and soul. As it seems, this artifact transforms its wearer into a god-like creature. Nebula is played in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy by Karen Gillian.
Kevin Faige admitted, however, that the MacGuffin of the Guardians of the Galaxy will follow the MacGuffins of the previous Marvel movies.
The Infinity Gauntlet may appear in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, in order to explain the powers of the Scarlet Witch.
